A sponsored bike ride in support of Saddleworth Rangers chairman, Shane ‘Jocky’ Wilson, will take place next month. He’s been having treatment for bowel cancer and the challenge will be to raise money for any future treatments he may need.
Friends and former team mates will take part in the challenge on 28th December, travelling from the Rangers ground to the birthplace of rugby league in Huddersfield and back again.
Shane Tupaea and Karen Thompson are organising it. Karen said; “While Jocky is continuing his treatment at the Christie we wanted to do something to show him we’re all behind him. The cycling challenge will be tough going for those who take it on and we’re hoping everyone at the club and beyond will support us so we can ensure Jocky can have any other medical help he needs.”
The aim is for 20 riders to take part in the challenge during the Christmas break. Each rider will be wearing their own special cycling shirt and the group is appealing for 20 sponsors. The cost will be £500 & each sponsor will have their logo on the cyclists shirt. Time is of the essence to get these printed so please contact Karen on 07970 370336 asap if you are interested.
People will also be able to show their support via this GO FUND ME PAGE.
A golf day in support of Jocky, due to take place this month, has unfortunately had to be cancelled due to the national lockdown.
