COVID FRUSTRATIONS COVID FRUSTRATIONS

It’s been a frustrating few weeks for junior teams as the impact of children having to self-isolate took its toll. Even when our teams have had enough players sometimes opponents have had to cancel the fixture.
Good news though is that new tackle shields for the teams that wanted them have arrived (above). We’ve bought 28 new ones using the pot provided by junior section sponsor Oldham Engineering Installations so thanks to them.

Meanwhile, 18 of our junior coaches took part in a session to hone their skills at the weekend.
It was led by Elite Kids Coaching who run our rugby camps. It was for our coaches looking after tots up to U11s this time but we’re looking to arrange a session for older team coaches later in the year.
It’s now likely postponed matches will take place during the summer holidays but to mark what’s usually the end of the first half of the junior season, DJ Joe will be on at the club on Sunday afternoon (July 25th). There’ll also be an ice cream van and pizza van.
We pulled the first ‘Friday Family Night’ in June due to restrictions being extended but we’re having one this month on Friday July 30th with Super League on the big screen.
