GROUNDS FOR IMPROVEMENT GROUNDS FOR IMPROVEMENT

The two new changing rooms are now ready for use thanks to volunteers efforts to get them fitted out although the showers are still to be installed and a final coat of paint is needed. Work has also been undertaken to spruce up the main room in the clubhouse over the past month with photos being temperarily removed so the walls could be repainted.

Meanwhile, a plan is being worked up to deal with an apparent increase in water retention in the bottom half of the main pitch which may have contributed, along with the very wet weather, to it being unplayable recently.

In addition, in an attempt to address frustrations over a lack of quality training facilities in and around Saddleworth, talks are ongoing the club is hoping to secure use of the former football pitch at Tanners in Greenfield (pictured above) on long term rent. Drainage former football pitch near Dovestone Reservoir is much better than that at Churchill but it’s currently covered in mole hills so will take time to get it fit for use again.
