JOY FOR COVENTRY JOY FOR COVENTRY

Congratulations to Andy Joy who’s heading to the professional game after signing for Coventry Bears. He’s been a key player for the first team in recent years so his presence in the pack will be missed.

The rest of the open age players are now taking a break ahead of a pre-season when it’s hoped coach Ken Kerr will have been able to return from Australia. Arron Muller, who’s led training in recent months, has decided to step down from his role as second team coach and the club would like to thank him for his efforts in keeping the squad together this summer. Last season he took his team to the playoffs and was runner up for North West Division 4 coach of the year. He said; “I would like to thank Robert Kivlin for all his help as captain and all the lads who have put a shirt on as they made my first taste of coaching a memorable one.”

Arron’s skills aren’t being lost to the club though as he’s joining the U10s coaching team to work alongside former first team coach Wes Rogers.

Meanwhile, two more of our junior coaches have passed their Level 2 qualification. Mark Jagger and Kevin Fitzpatrick (above) are assistants with the U12s and had done their three days training before the assessment day was cancelled when lockdown hit. The RFL came out to assess them coaching their team last month.
