Saddleworth Rangers has a new Chairman following last night's Annual General Meeting. Karen Thompson was voted into the role with the rest of the Committee also being re-elected.
Karen has been part of club for most of her life and she’s been a Committee member and Treasurer for over 15 years.
She said; “I’ve been involved in the management of the club for a long time and it’s a huge honour to take the Chair following on from some great people who’ve got the club to where we are today. We have a great team on the Committee and we are looking ahead with the success of our juniors. I’m excited about helping to move the club forward over the next few years.”
Karen has been replaced as Treasurer by former player Brendan Fitzpatrick, who’s a partner at James Scott, the accountancy firm which is the club’s main sponsor. Meanwhile, Dave Tyrell (junior) is stepping up to take on a key role after the Committee agreed to create a new position of Vice-Chair.
The AGM was attended by around 40 people and heard a financial update which revealed the club made a healthy profit in the past year, despite the disruption of the pandemic. The club is also now debt free after fully repaying the £75 thousand borrowed from the ‘Friends of Saddleworth Rangers’ to help finance the build of the new clubhouse in 2016.
