Joint first team coaches Sean Whitehead and Paul Ashton have been pleased with how pre-season has gone ahead of league fixtures starting later this month. They’ve played two friendlies, winning away at Wigan St Judes and losing at Dudley Hill.

Former Ranger, Johnny Horton, pictured above at training with Paul, has joined them as assistant coach, with a number of new recruits on the pitch aswell.

Sean said; “We’ve done a lot of running and a lot of general fitness stuff which was all we could do really early on. Lockdown has meant that they’ve wanted to get out there and do something so that’s helped.”

Fixtures have been compiled for local teams in a one off league this year due to Covid with no promotion or relagation which means, with matches against, Waterhead, Oldham St Anne’s and Mayfield, there’ll be more local derbies that there have been for many years.

Sean added; “For everybody it’s a bit of a free hit really before we fall back into our own leagues next season. We’re all young teams in Oldham currently so it should be a good season where we can try some players out. Should be good stuff really.”
