The open age and some junior teams aged U12s and above are back together this week with the return of outdoor exercise sessions. It’s the first time players have trained since lockdown in March.
The U15s held their session on Sunday (above). The team’s coach, club Chairman, Shane Wilson, said: “It is great to see the boys back with a ball in their hands. The first session was a learning curve for both the players and coaches alike but it went without a hitch.”
It’s been a painstaking process to put our plan together based on strict guidance from the Rugby Football League.
Those guidelines may be adapted as the government’s restrictions change with the hope that younger teams can also return before long.
It’s taken an enormous amount of work from our two welfare officers, Rachel Wood and Karen Wilson, due to the information we need to collate for track and trace and the club would like to put on record its appreciation of their efforts. They were both recently asked to join the Rangers Committee and were voted on at the June meeting. It was agreed that the Committee would benefit from their experience and understanding of welfare issues.
